History.
The Renault 5 Turbo, introduced in 1980, was a remarkable French rally car that transformed the humble Renault 5 into a formidable mid-engined machine. Developed for Group 4 competition, it featured a turbocharged 1.4-litre engine producing around 160 horsepower in road specification, with competition versions becoming considerably more powerful. Its distinctive wide body, flared wheel arches and dramatic proportions made it instantly recognisable. Designed for agility and speed, the 5 Turbo achieved notable success in rallying, particularly on tight, twisting stages. Today, it remains an iconic symbol of Renault’s adventurous engineering and one of the most exciting rally cars of its era.
