History

The Sd. Kfz. 234/3 "Stummel" was a German armoured car used during World War II, introduced in 1944. It was part of the Sd. Kfz. 234 series, known for its excellent mobility and eight-wheeled design. The 234/3 variant was fitted with a short-barrelled 75mm KwK 51 L/24 gun, mounted in an open-topped superstructure. Nicknamed "Stummel" (Stump) due to its stubby gun, it was designed to provide close fire support for reconnaissance units. Though lightly armoured, it was fast, reliable, and effective against infantry and light vehicles. Only around 88 units were produced, making it a relatively rare vehicle. The 234/3 combined speed with firepower, offering valuable support in fast-moving operations on both the Eastern and Western Fronts.
