History.
The Sd.Kfz.186 Jagdtiger was a German heavy tank destroyer deployed during the Second World War, entering service in 1944. Based on the Tiger II chassis, it was the heaviest armoured fighting vehicle to see combat, weighing around 75 tonnes. Equipped with a formidable 128 mm Pak 44 L/55 gun, it could destroy any Allied tank at long range. Its frontal armour, up to 250 mm thick, rendered it virtually impervious to frontal attacks. However, its immense weight caused serious mobility problems, frequent mechanical failures, and high fuel consumption. Only about 70–80 were produced, serving mainly with schwere Panzerjäger-Abteilungen 653 and 512. Despite its firepower and protection, it had little strategic effect due to production delays, logistical difficulties, and Germany’s worsening war situation in 1945.
