History.

The Dassault Mirage IIIC is a pioneering French supersonic fighter jet developed by Dassault Aviation during the late 1950s. As the first operational variant of the Mirage III series, the IIIC played a significant role in the modernisation of the French Air Force. Its maiden flight occurred on October 9, 1960, and it quickly became renowned for its delta-wing design, which offered exceptional speed and maneuverability. Powered by a SNECMA Atar 09B turbojet engine with an afterburner, the Mirage IIIC could reach speeds of Mach 2, making it one of the fastest aircraft of its time.

The Mirage IIIC was primarily designed for interception missions, equipped with advanced radar and air-to-air missiles, enhancing its effectiveness in combat. It saw extensive service during the 1960s and 1970s, including notable engagements in the Six-Day War with the Israeli Air Force. Its success influenced subsequent Mirage models, solidifying Dassault's reputation in aviation.
