In collaboration with the Deutsches Panzermuseum Munster, the COBI Merkava Mk. I/II brick model kit is based on their museum exhibit. The model faithfully recreated with 825 bricks, captures the authentic appearance of its museum counterpart. It has various moving elements, including the turret, barrel, rotating wheels, tracks, and opening hatches. The tank's engine is also meticulously recreated, visible through the service hatch.
With intuitive instructions, construction is both simple and fun. Collectors and enthusiasts of history and military technology will proudly add this model to their collection. With a 1:35 scale, it perfectly complements other vehicles in the Armed Forces series, such as the Leopard 2A4, Leopard 2A5, and Abrams.
The Merkava was Israel's first domestically designed and manufactured main battle tank, with serial production starting in 1979. Over the years, four generations have been developed. Exclusively used by the Israeli Defense Forces, it has participated in all military conflicts since the Yom Kippur War.
The tank was designed to meet the specific requirements of the IDF, prioritising excellent crew protection, a crucial aspect for Israel. The engine is positioned at the front, easily accessible, and offering additional crew safety. The turret and fighting compartment are located at the rear, featuring a wedge-shaped design and a low-profile hull to minimize damage. Enhanced firepower is provided by the improved 105mm M68 gun. The empty ammunition compartment can also accommodate troop transport. The Merkava II introduced reinforced armour, side screens, and an upgraded fire control system. In 2021, the Merkava II tanks were ultimately replaced by the 3rd and 4th generations.
