History.

The M18 Hellcat was an American tank destroyer developed during the Second World War and became the fastest fully tracked armoured fighting vehicle of the conflict. Introduced in 1943, it was armed with a powerful 76 mm gun capable of engaging German tanks and other armoured targets. Rather than relying on heavy armour, the Hellcat's design emphasised exceptional speed and mobility, allowing it to outmanoeuvre enemy forces and quickly reposition on the battlefield. Its open-topped turret provided excellent visibility but offered limited protection to the crew. The M18 served with distinction in Europe and the Pacific, where its speed and firepower proved highly effective. The Hellcat earned a reputation as a versatile and successful tank destroyer and remains an iconic American military vehicle.
