History
The Gaz Half Track was a Soviet adaptation of American military vehicles during the Second World War. Inspired by the American M3 Half-track, the Soviet Union received several through the Lend-Lease programme. However, the need for a locally produced version led to the development of a modified GAZ-AAA truck fitted with tracks at the rear. This design allowed better performance over rough terrain and snow, crucial for the Eastern Front. While not as widely produced or as robust as its American counterpart, the Gaz Half Track played a significant role in transporting troops, towing artillery, and carrying supplies. It demonstrated the Soviet ability to innovate with limited resources and adapt foreign technology to suit their own military needs.
