History.
The Beechcraft T-6 Texan II is a turboprop trainer aircraft used by the United States Air Force (USAF) and several other air forces worldwide. Developed by Raytheon Aircraft Company (now Textron Aviation), it was introduced in the late 1990s as a replacement for the Cessna T-37 Tweet in the Joint Primary Aircraft Training System (JPATS).
Based on the Pilatus PC-9, the T-6 features a Pratt & Whitney PT6A-68 turboprop engine, advanced avionics, and an ejection seat, preparing pilots for future fast-jet or multi-engine aircraft. Used primarily for basic flight training, it also serves in light attack and observation roles for some nations. The T-6 remains a cornerstone of pilot training, ensuring readiness for modern air combat operations.
