History.
The T-34/85 is a Soviet medium tank that played a pivotal role during World War II. It was an upgraded version of the earlier T-34, which had already earned a reputation as one of the most effective tanks of the war. Introduced in 1944, the T-34/85 featured a more powerful 85mm gun, which allowed it to better engage German Panther and Tiger tanks. The upgrade was a response to the increasing armour and firepower of German tanks, which the earlier T-34's 76.2mm gun struggled to counter.
The T-34/85 retained the robust design, sloped armour, and mobility that made its predecessor successful but with enhanced firepower and a three-man turret crew, improving its combat effectiveness. It became the backbone of Soviet armoured forces during the final years of the war and continued to serve in various conflicts around the world for decades, symbolising Soviet military power and resilience.
