History.

HMS Upholder was a British U-class submarine of the Royal Navy that served with distinction during the Second World War. Commissioned in 1940, she operated mainly in the Mediterranean under the command of Lieutenant Commander Malcolm Wanklyn. Upholder became one of the most successful British submarines of the war, sinking numerous Axis ships, including troop transports and supply vessels vital to the North African campaign. Her daring patrols and effective torpedo attacks disrupted enemy logistics and earned Wanklyn the Victoria Cross for gallantry. In April 1942, HMS Upholder disappeared during a patrol near Tripoli, Libya, and was presumed lost with all hands. Her legacy remains one of courage, skill, and exceptional wartime achievement.
