History.
USS Kidd (DD-661) is an American Fletcher-class destroyer launched in 1943 during the Second World War. Named after Rear Admiral Isaac C. Kidd, who was killed aboard the battleship Arizona at Pearl Harbor, she earned a fierce reputation in the Pacific. The Kidd supported island-hopping operations, protected aircraft carriers, and endured kamikaze attacks, surviving the war with distinction and receiving numerous battle stars.
After the conflict, the ship served during the Korean War and spent further years in active and reserve service before being decommissioned. Preserved rather than scrapped, USS Kidd became a museum ship in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Today she remains one of the most authentically restored WWII destroyers, honouring sailors who served at sea.
