History.

The Boeing F/A-18C Hornet is a supersonic multi-role aircraft used by the US Navy. Its production began in 1978, and it remains one of the most advanced aircraft in the US Navy's fleet. In Switzerland, the F/A-18C replaced the Mirage IIIS fighters. In 1992, a contract was signed for the delivery of 34 units, consisting of 26 single-seater C-models and 8 double-seater D-models. While the first two aircraft were entirely built in the USA, the remaining aircraft were manufactured at RUAG's Swiss facilities in Emmen.
