History.
The MiG-21MF was a modernised variant of the famous Soviet MiG-21 fighter, introduced in the early 1970s. Designed by the Mikoyan-Gurevich bureau, the MF version featured a more powerful R-13F-300 engine, improved avionics and enhanced weapon capability compared to earlier models. It was intended primarily for export and became one of the most widely used MiG-21 variants, serving with air forces across Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa. The MiG-21MF was valued for its high speed, simplicity and low operating costs, although it had limited range and avionics by Western standards. Many remained in frontline service into the 1990s and beyond, with some still flying today.
