History.

The 8.8 cm Flak 18 was a German anti-aircraft gun introduced in the 1930s and became one of the most famous weapons of the Second World War. Originally designed to destroy high-altitude bombers, it proved extremely effective against ground targets, particularly tanks, because of its high muzzle velocity and armour-piercing shells. Mounted on a cruciform carriage, the gun could be quickly deployed and rotated through a full 360 degrees, giving it great flexibility on the battlefield. Its accuracy, range, and reliability made it feared by Allied aircrews and tank crews alike. Although designed as a defensive weapon, the Flak 18 became an iconic example of how military technology can be adapted beyond its original purpose, shaping both tactics and reputation.
