History.

The F-35B Lightning II is a versatile fighter developed by Lockheed Martin Corporation. It is a single-seat, multi-role aircraft designed to replace the US Air Force's F-16 Fighting Falcon and A-10 Thunderbolt II. Widely regarded as a highly sought-after product in the defense industry, the F-35 has been adopted by numerous air forces worldwide since the early 21st century.

Poland signed an agreement on January 31, 2020, to acquire advanced fifth-generation fighters. They have ordered 32 F-35A conventional take-off and landing aircraft, with the initial deliveries scheduled for 2024. The first planes will be stationed at the Łask airbase by 2026, and efforts are being made to expedite the delivery process. With this purchase, Poland becomes the 14th country globally and the 10th NATO member to join the F-35 program.

The F-35A Lightning II is the lightest variant of the aircraft, capable of executing close support missions, bombing runs, and typical air combat maneuvers. It possesses supersonic speed and reduced detectability during flight, along with exceptional reconnaissance and electronic warfare capabilities for detection, tracking, targeting, and jamming.

Equipped with a 25mm GAU-12/U cannon mounted internally, the F-35 can carry up to six AIM-120 AMRAAM, AIM-9X Sidewinder, or AIM-132 ASRAAM missiles within its internal ammunition chambers.

The development of the F-35 aircraft is a collaborative effort, with funding from the governments of the United States, Great Britain, and other interested countries. Lockheed Martin led the project, working in conjunction with BAE Systems and Northrop Grumman to bring the F-35B Lightning II to fruition.
