History.
The Polski Fiat 126, affectionately known as the "Maluch" (meaning "toddler"), holds a special place in Polish motoring history. Introduced in 1973, it was a licensed version of the Italian Fiat 126, manufactured under an agreement between Fiat and the Polish government. Produced at the FSM factory in Bielsko-Biała and later in Tychy, the car quickly became a symbol of everyday life in communist Poland due to its affordability and compact size. With a rear-mounted 594 cc engine, it offered basic transport for millions of families. Production continued until 2000, making it one of the longest-produced cars in Polish history. Despite its modest design, the 126 played a vital role in mobilising post-war Poland.
