History.
The Renault FT 302 KL tank, developed during World War I, holds a significant place in military history as the first modern tank. Introduced in 1917 by French engineer Louis Renault, it revolutionised armoured warfare with its innovative design. Unlike its predecessors, the FT 302 KL featured a fully rotating turret, allowing for 360-degree firing capability. Its lightweight yet durable structure made it highly manoeuvrable, and it was equipped with either a machine gun or a 37mm Puteaux gun.
The tank was widely used by the French Army and influenced armoured vehicle designs worldwide. Its success underscored the importance of mobility and firepower in combat, establishing the blueprint for modern tanks. The Renault FT remains a symbol of pioneering military engineering.
