History.
Introduced in 1942, the ZiS-3 Soviet gun proved to be extremely effective and quickly became a staple in Red Army units. With production numbers reaching close to 50,000 by the war's end, it became the backbone of their artillery forces. Interestingly, even after the war, it continued to see service in Eastern Bloc countries, remaining in use in certain cases until the 1980s.
