History.
The Hawker Hurricane Mk I was one of Britain’s most important fighter aircraft during the early years of the Second World War. Entering service with the RAF in 1937, it was the first monoplane fighter to feature a retractable undercarriage and enclosed cockpit. Though often overshadowed by the Spitfire, the Hurricane played a crucial role in the Battle of Britain in 1940, accounting for the majority of enemy aircraft destroyed. Its sturdy construction made it highly effective against bombers and easy to repair. Powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, the Mk I was armed with eight .303 machine guns, making it a formidable and reliable workhorse of the RAF.
