History.

The 10.5 cm leFH 18 (leichte Feldhaubitze 18) was a German light field howitzer used extensively during World War II. Designed by Rheinmetall in the late 1920s and early 1930s, it became the standard artillery piece for the Wehrmacht. Entering service in 1935, the leFH 18 was known for its robust construction, featuring a split-trail carriage and a hydropneumatic recoil system. It fired a 10.5 cm high-explosive shell, which could reach a maximum range of 10,675 meters.

Throughout the war, the leFH 18 saw action on every front, from the deserts of North Africa to the snowy landscapes of the Eastern Front. It was praised for its accuracy, reliability, and ease of use, making it a formidable weapon in both offensive and defensive roles. The howitzer was also mounted on various self-propelled gun platforms, enhancing its versatility. Despite being eventually outclassed by more modern artillery, the 10.5 cm leFH 18 remains a significant example of German engineering and military strategy during World War II.
