History.
The Volkswagen T2b Campingwagen, introduced in 1972, was the second generation of VW’s iconic camper van, succeeding the earlier T2a. Known for its reliability, versatility, and unique charm, the T2b featured improved safety elements, a larger rear window, and more powerful engine options. It became especially popular among travellers and outdoor enthusiasts during the 1970s, symbolising freedom and the growing campervan culture. The Campingwagen version, often converted by Westfalia, included practical additions such as a pop-up roof, fold-out bed, kitchenette, and storage space, making it ideal for road trips and holidays. The T2b played a significant role in cementing VW’s legacy in the camper market and remains a beloved classic among collectors and vintage vehicle enthusiasts across the UK and beyond.
