History.
British main battle tank developed and built by Vickers Defence Systems as a successor to the Challenger I entering service in 1998. Although visually similar to the Challenger I, the Challenger 2 has many new and different features. Weighing in at 62.5 tonnes, the tank has a range of 341 miles and a maximum speed of 36 mph.
The main armament is a 120mm L30A1 gun backed up with an L94A1 7.62mm chain gun and a 7.62 mm L37A2 machine gun.
