History.
The Junkers Ju 87 B-2, commonly known as the Stuka, was a German dive-bomber used extensively during the early years of the Second World War. Introduced in 1939, the B-2 variant featured a more powerful Jumo 211D engine, improved propeller, and refinements for operational reliability. It carried up to 1,000 kg of bombs, making it effective against fortified positions and shipping. Equipped with fixed undercarriage “spats” and dive brakes, it executed near-vertical bombing runs with precision. Its infamous Jericho-Trompete sirens, mounted on the undercarriage, produced a terrifying wail that demoralised enemy troops. While devastating during the Blitzkrieg campaigns in Poland and France, the Ju 87 B-2 proved vulnerable to modern fighters, leading to heavy losses during the Battle of Britain.
