History.

The Sd.Kfz. 222, or Sonderkraftfahrzeug 222, was a German light armoured reconnaissance vehicle used extensively during World War II. Developed in the 1930s by Auto Union and later manufactured by Horch, the Sd.Kfz. 222 was part of the Wehrmacht's effort to enhance mobility and versatility on the battlefield. Based on a four-wheeled chassis, it featured an open-topped turret equipped with a 20mm KwK 30 L/55 autocannon and a 7.92mm MG34 machine gun, making it effective for scouting and skirmishes.

Its compact size, four-wheel drive, and independent suspension allowed it to traverse diverse terrain, making it ideal for reconnaissance missions. Though lightly armoured, the Sd.Kfz. 222 became a key asset in early campaigns, including Poland, France, and North Africa.
