The German four-axle railway platform, built to transport vehicles and loads weighing up to 50 tons, is now available as a 1:35 scale brick model by COBI. This model perfectly complements the rest of the 20th Century railway and vehicle collection, particularly suitable for transporting tanks and vehicles from the Second World War, which are also part of the COBI collection. In addition to its rolling wheels and detailed prints, an appealing feature of this model is the inclusion of a miniature figure of a German railway guard holding a shovel. Moreover, the wagon can be attached to locomotives from the new COBI Railway Collection.

The set also includes three sections of straight track, each measuring 39 cm in length. These tracks are manufactured using advanced two-colour injection technology, resulting in each individual section (approximately 13 cm long) being made of two different colours of plastic that seamlessly join together. The gray steel rails stand out distinctly against the realistically rendered brown railway ties, complete with a wood texture. The absence of visible pegs (studs) on each tie significantly enhances their realism. The tracks can be securely attached to structural block plates and feature an additional hole, allowing for permanent installation on any display using a screw or nail.

History.

The German Railway Guterwagen Typ Ommer 32 Linz is a pivotal freight car from the early 20th century, integral to the logistical efforts of the German railways. Introduced in the 1930s, the Ommer 32 was a versatile open goods wagon designed for the efficient transportation of bulk goods such as coal, ore, and construction materials. Its robust construction featured steel sidewalls and a high load capacity, making it suitable for heavy industrial use.

During World War II, the Ommer 32 played a crucial role in supporting the war effort by transporting essential resources across occupied Europe. Its reliability and capacity made it a workhorse of the German rail network. Post-war, these wagons continued to be utilized extensively in reconstruction efforts, cementing their place in the history of European rail transport. The Ommer 32 Linz remains a symbol of industrial efficiency and resilience in railway logistics.
