The Panzerkampfwagen V Panther Ausf. D was the initial production variant of Germany's famous Panther medium tank during the Second World War. Rushed into service in 1943 to counter superior Soviet armour like the T-34 on the Eastern Front, it combined sloped protective plating, high tactical mobility, and a long-barrelled anti-tank gun.
