Magnificant MOC: Sturm-Infanteriegeschütz 33B
by Lee D.
by Lee D.
This week our clever customer Lee sent us his latest creation by rebuilding/updating a very old COBI model. We thought you would appreciate seeing the photos of the finished result with his amazing eye for detail and building talents. If you have a MOC you would like to share please email photos to admin@bricktanks.co.uk.
First a few words of explanation from Lee:
'This model started off as one of my very first Cobi set's many moons ago.
2465 Sturmgeschütz III (StuG III) which I rebuilt to use the smaller
tracks so that it would fit in with some of the newest models as they
released them. Instead of scrapping it, I decided to rebuild it a 3rd
time.
The Sturm-Infanteriegeschütz 33B ("Assault Infantry Gun 33B"), was a German
self-propelled heavy assault gun used during World War II.A new, fully
enclosed, and heavily armored boxy casemate superstructure was built on
the chassis of the Sturmgeschütz III. It mounted the improved sIG 33/1
infantry gun, offset to the right side, for which 30 rounds were
carried. It could only traverse 3° left and right, elevate 25°, and
depress 6°. A MG 34 machine-gun was fitted in a ball mount to the right
of the main gun.24 were built and were used in the Stalingrad campaign.

This MOC has a mapped out interior and engine bay, and the crew fit in their own positions.'

Customer Survey Update - Sluban dioramas and models coming soon
Following our customer survey earlier this year, we explored adding new brick brands to complement our COBI and CaDA ranges. We reached out to LEGO, but they’re currently at capacity for UK retailers, so we won’t be stocking them for now.
One brand that came up several times was Sluban. Long-time customers may remember we stocked Sluban a few years ago, but high import duties forced us to stop. The good news is we can now source them again, without import fees, and our first order is arriving in a few days.
We've ordered a small selection to test interest, focusing on their smaller models and diorama sets, which offer great value. While Sluban doesn’t match COBI’s quality or detail, it’s a budget-friendly alternative worth trying. Based in the Netherlands, with manufacturing in China, each set comes in a well-presented box with a physical instruction booklet.
Here are a few of the models due in stock next week (19th - 22nd May). For more sets, click on the full collection button below.
We’d love your feedback on the new Sluban range—good, bad, or otherwise—via email at admin@bricktanks.co.uk or by leaving a review on the product page, photos of your finished models are always appreciated too.
Our goal is to offer a wide range of military brick models to suit all budgets and skill levels.
Have a good weekend.
Warmest wishes,
Zoë
