History.

The Saumur Pz.Kpfw. VI Tiger, located in the Musée des Blindés (Museum of Armoured Vehicles) in Saumur, France, is a significant historical artifact from World War II. The Tiger I, as it is commonly known, was a formidable German heavy tank introduced in 1942. With its powerful 88mm gun and thick armour, it was designed to dominate the battlefield, capable of destroying any Allied tank at great distances.

The Saumur Tiger, specifically, is one of the few surviving operational Tigers in the world. It was captured by the French 2nd Armoured Division during the Liberation of France in 1944. Post-war, it was preserved and eventually restored to running condition, becoming a highlight of the Saumur collection.

This Tiger serves not only as a reminder of the technological advancements of the era but also as a tribute to the intense tank battles of World War II, symbolising both the engineering prowess and the destructive power of the period's military machinery.
