History.
The Panzerjäger Tiger Ausf. B, known as the "Jagdtiger," was a German heavy tank destroyer used during World War II. Developed in 1943 and entering service in 1944, it was based on the Tiger II chassis and designed to counter heavily armoured Allied tanks. Armed with the formidable 128mm Pak 44 L/55 gun, it was the most powerful tank destroyer of the war.
The Jagdtiger featured thick frontal armour, making it nearly impervious to most Allied anti-tank weapons. However, its immense size and weight, at 71 tonnes, led to reliability issues, particularly with its suspension and engine. Production was limited to just 88 units due to resource shortages. Despite its power, the Jagdtiger's impact on the battlefield was minimal, hindered by mechanical failures and limited mobility.
