History.

The Mark V (Male) tank No. 9199, an iconic British First World War tank, was built in 1918 and played a pivotal role in advancing tank technology. The Mark V was an evolution of earlier designs, featuring significant improvements such as a more powerful 150-horsepower Ricardo engine, epicyclic steering for better manoeuvrability, and enhanced crew conditions. Classified as a "Male" tank, it carried two 6-pounder naval guns and machine guns, making it a formidable force in breaking through enemy lines. No. 9199 participated in the closing months of the war, particularly in the Amiens offensive of August 1918, which marked a turning point in modern warfare. This tank symbolised Britain’s innovation and adaptation on the battlefield.
