History

The M14/41 was an Italian medium tank developed during the Second World War, entering service in 1941. An improved version of the earlier M13/40, it featured a more powerful diesel engine and slightly better armour. Armed with a 47mm main gun and machine guns, it was used primarily in the North African Campaign. However, the M14/41 struggled against British and Allied tanks due to its relatively thin armour, limited firepower, and mechanical unreliability in desert conditions. Its cramped interior and poor ventilation also made it unpopular with crews. Production was limited, and by 1943, the tank was largely obsolete. Despite its shortcomings, the M14/41 remains a notable example of Italy’s wartime tank development and its efforts to modernise its armoured forces.
