History.

The Goliath tracked mine was a small, remote-controlled demolition vehicle used by German forces during the Second World War. Powered by electric motors or later petrol engines, it carried a large explosive charge and was guided by a cable from a safe distance. During the Warsaw Uprising of 1944, German troops employed Goliaths to destroy barricades, fortified buildings, and resistance positions held by the Polish Home Army. Although the vehicles could be effective against static targets, they were slow, vulnerable to gunfire, and easily disabled if their control cables were cut. Despite these weaknesses, the appearance of the Goliath mines had a significant psychological impact, symbolising the overwhelming firepower used to suppress the courageous Warsaw Uprising.
