History.
The Citroën Type H was produced from 1947 to 1981 and became one of France’s most recognisable commercial vehicles. Designed with practicality in mind, it featured a front-wheel-drive layout, low loading floor, and a unibody construction—innovative for its time. Its distinctive corrugated steel panels, inspired by aircraft design, provided structural strength while keeping the vehicle lightweight. The Type H was powered by various four-cylinder engines over its long production run, borrowed largely from Citroën’s passenger cars. It was used widely as a van, ambulance, camper, and mobile shop across Europe. Its simple mechanics, versatility, and durability earned it a loyal following. Today, the Type H enjoys a cult status, often restored and repurposed, reflecting its timeless charm and functional design.
