Battleship Musashi - Lego compatible COBI 4811 - 2430 brick battleship
AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER - DUE IN STOCK BY WEDNESDAY 26TH JUNE
One of three Yamato class battleships of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Displacing almost 72,000 long tons and armed with nine 46 cm main guns, the largest ever mounted on a warship, these were the heaviest and most powerful battleships ever built. Their secondary armament consisted of four 15.5-centimetre (6.1 in) triple-gun turrets and they were equipped with six or seven floatplanes to conduct reconnaissance.
Commissioned in mid-1942, Musashi was intended to serve as the flagship of the Combined Fleet. In 1943, she carried out several missions with the fleet from Truk searching for American forces. In 1944 she was torpedoed by an American submarine whilst transferring forces and equipment between Japan and various occupied islands and returned to Japan for repairs. In June 1944 she was present but not active during the Battle of the Philippine Sea, four months later she was sunk during the Battle of Leyte Gulf by almost forty torpedo and bomb hits by American forces.
